Plastic Threading

Plastic Threading

Ehren-Haus Industries, Inc. offers plastic threading and CNC threading services for custom plastic parts and components for industrial applications. The techniques of threading for plastic parts differ according to the type of plastic material, type of products, type of threading, and many more.

What is Plastic Threading and CNC Threading Services?

Thread cutting is a process of forming helical or spiral grooves on plastic surfaces. The threads are created on the plastic surface in order to interlock two or more parts. Due to threading, only two components can be fastened or screwed in/screwed out. The plastic assemblies with multiple parts need threads to fasten the components. However, there is a wide range of plastic materials available, and the same plastic threading does not work for all materials.

What Sets Ehren-Haus Industries, Inc. Apart?

Our manufacturing capabilities and engineering expertise coupled with vast experience enable us to meet the challenging requirements of complex plastic threading projects easily. We can offer plastic threading services for product materials like HDPE, LDPE, ABS, acrylic, engineered plastics, etc. Therefore, regardless of material compositions, we can offer highly efficient plastic threading and CNC threading services. Our manufacturing facility is well-equipped featuring advanced CNC machines, inspection tools, etc. Therefore, we are capable of in-house plastic manufacturing and plastic component threading. Our design engineers and operators are highly experienced in precise design and efficient production. Therefore, our plastic threading services are only offered after required calculations, and resource collection.

What is Our Process?

We accept designs in IGS, CAD, and DXF formats. The designs are analyzed and discussed with the client for clarity. Any design changes are suggested in the initial stages. The prototype building begins after seeking their approval.

    Our Plastic Parts Threading Capabilities

Plastic products may be made of engineered plastics, thermoforms, thermosets, acrylic, and many more. Each type of plastic has its own susceptibility to different machining processes. We perform CNC threading to thread various plastic parts. CNC plastic threading is also known as single-point threading. To perform single-point threading with CNC machines, we use an indexable tool to cut and form the helical grooves. Since threading is a hybrid of cutting and forming processes, it is a challenge to maintain precision in threading specifications such as pitch, thread depth, etc. However, CNC plastic machining allows controlled feed rate and spindle revolution, which results in fine threading. By using CNC threading, we are capable of large dimensional and minute threading. Also, using CNC for plastic parts threading allows us to opt for the following types of threading.

    Internal Threading

The internal threading is performed using a single-tip tool. A conventional tapping tool cannot be used for internal threading, as it is done on the internal surfaces of the product. We utilize this type of threading for objects with internal locking surfaces. We create a CAD design and encode it in the CNC program in order to get error-free internal threading. We are capable of manufacturing metric threads in grades from M2 to M12.

    External Threading

The external threads can be formed by using a tapping tool or a single-tip cutting tool. Since the external threads are created on the visible surface, CAD designing and surface machining are quite less complicated. However, it is essential for us to control the feed rate, cutting depth, and pitch precisely compatible with the internal threads of the interlocking component.

    Coil Inserts

We also offer coil insert threading services. The coil inserts are similar to internal threading, however, these threads are formed in the internal surface of a hole. The holes are often partial drills made in components, therefore, coil insert threading is applied to such parts. However, if the through-holes are there, then internal threading can be opted for.
