Custom Plastic Fabrication

Ehren-Haus Industries, Inc. has been offering custom plastic fabrication services to our clients across industries such as aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, and so on for over 35 years. Our vast knowledge of plastics and polymers combined with skillful use of various plastic machining techniques enable us to fabricate custom plastic parts of the highest quality.

What Are Custom Plastic Fabrication Services?

Custom plastic fabrication is one of the plastic production techniques that offers versatile yet effective plastic products. Plastic sheet fabrication can be performed on a wide range of thermoplastic or thermoset materials. Custom-made components and parts are widely used today attributed to such advantages as price, performance, and utility. Because of their popularity, today, it is easier to find several plastic fabricators offering services such as design, manufacturing, as well as assembly of plastic components and parts.

What Sets Ehren-Haus Industries, Inc. Apart?

Everything right from the design to manufacturing to inspection and testing is performed in-house at our well-equipped South Carolina facility. Our expansive facility enables us to meet the requirements of prototyping to mid-volume production. Along with custom plastic fabrication services, we also provide value-added services such as assembly, drop shipping, inventory management, and fulfillment. All plastic manufacturing is handled by our well-experienced and certified technicians. Above all, we listen to our customers and make sure we thoroughly understand the needs and expectations of each project. It’s not about us – it is always about our customers.

What is Our Process?

We accept designs for your plastic parts & components in IGS, CAD, and DXF formats. The designs are analyzed and discussed with the client for clarity. Any design changes are suggested in the initial stages. The prototype building begins after seeking their approval.

Custom Plastic Fabrication Methods and Techniques

At Ehren-Haus, we consider custom plastic fabrication as an art of manufacturing high-quality precision products. We believe the blend of these capabilities combined with our experience and expertise enables us to meet various challenging and complex client requirements with ease. Our team utilizes the following techniques to produce quality and precise parts that your business demands.

    Fabrication

Ehren-Haus specializes in custom, low volume plastic fabrication, and forming services. We perform fabrication of similar and dissimilar materials in the gage range of .014″ to 4.0″.

    Vacuum Forming

In this process, a plastic sheet is heated to make it pliable. It is then pressed against the 3D mold. The air between the sheet and mold is vacuumed during the process. Once the material cools it assumes the shape of the mold. This technique is mainly used to form plastic into objects such as protective covers, domes, bezels, chutes, and so on. We perform Vacuum forming technique of similar and dissimilar materials in the gage range of 0.030″ to 1.0″. This process can be accommodated for parts that are as large as 48″ x 96″ and small as 1″x2″.

    Thermoforming

In this process, the plastic sheet is heated to a forming temperature and allowed to take shape of the mold. The extra sheet on sides is trimmed to form the shape of the product.

    Adhesion/Bonding

This technique is employed to fasten two surfaces. The adhesion bonding service is performed using epoxies, glues, solvents, and other agents, which are evaporated or cured by subjecting to high pressure or temperature for desired binding results.

    In-house Precision Fixture/Tool Building

Ehren-Haus manufactures and repairs custom dies and tools for its clients. The fixtures and tools are designed to the client’s specifications. When an application demands precision and accuracy, we have the experience and expertise to build fixtures for supporting parts that are machined to precision.

    Thermoset Resin Compound Casting

This is a technique of plastic casting, wherein a mold filled with liquid synthetic resin is allowed to harden. Thermoset resin compound casting is suited for small scale production of prototypes and dentistry.

    CNC Routing & Machining

CNC plastic machining practise involves cutting, taping, scoring, or drilling the plastic sheets in various sizes to create custom shaped components. We trim the previously designed parts or create new components for use in the production assembly using advanced CNC routers. This process is automated and it helps ensure the repeatability of production components. These processes allow us to create extremely complex parts.

    Bending and Forming

Some applications require precise forming and line bending, which cannot be otherwise achieved through traditional fabrication. We have employed a variety of forming techniques to produce an aesthetically appealing Coco-Cola drinkable billboard.

    Encapsulation

Imbedding or encapsulating an object in materials like plastics.

    Annealing

These techniques are used to remove internal stresses from the plastic sheet.

    Secondary Processes

We also provide secondary services such as drilling, tapping and trimming. These processes are performed using a variety of CNC machines.

    Polishing

Polishing is a final finishing process, which is performed to improve product properties and their aesthetic value. We provide different types of polishing services such as buff polishing method, flame polishing technique, diamond and vapor polishing.

Frequently Asked Questions to Plastic Fabricators

    1. How to choose right plastic fabrication process?

The process and material all have to do with what the customer product and application. We can help guide the customer through these if provided enough information.

    2. How do you fabricate plastic?

Fabricating plastic has grown more and more specialize over the last decade or 2. Machinery, tooling, and processes are now developed specify for plastics due to the manufacturing of the plastic sheets and the new materials that are available. Like most industries you must adapt to the changes in materials and the use the machinery and tooling to fabricate the products.

    3. Do you have in-house equipment to fabricate plastic?

Yes we have all the machinery necessary to fabricate most plastics.
